Foodie stamp of approval
Cleveland should be billed as the foodie capital of the world. My husband, Brian, and his girlfriend Xristi (yes that's Christi with an X...how cool is that!) are the resident foodies. We love to go out to eat and spare no expense at one new or not so new place each month. Usually we get a hit.
The newest to peak the foodies interest is Momocho. Dining there last night for my friend Brian's birthday we gorged ourselves on guacamole samples, margarita samplers, taquitos, chilaquilas, enchiladas, one mocha cake, and some fried ice cream. Oh and the chile rellenos too. SOOOOOOO damn good. I could have eaten the goat cheese guac by the spoonful. My smoked trout (i heart trout) and crab chilaquila was tasty! Guess whats going in the garden tonight? Some pablano pepers and tomatillos should I be able to find seedlings at the greenhouse run tonight.
The foodies have recently have visited Korea House for April's feast of gluttony. All good there too. I think we skipped March because we did V-day late Feb at One Walnut. Of course that was tasty. Note to foodies...must get some more caviar!
Other places we've dined and would recommend...Halite. Empress Tatu (but make it an whole evening event...this is SLOW food),and dim sum at LiWah, Thai Kitchen in lakewood, Wu's cuisine in lakewood, Panda Wok, Sechwan Garden (Lakewood), Honey's (west side Gelato in Lakewood), Niko's on Detroit, Kimo's sushi, Daishin, oh theres' just so many...

I was sad to see the Fulton leave, but I've heard nothing but great reviews about Momocho...can't wait to try it!

I stumbled upon this site as I was in the process of doing some online research. For some reason, I have never had fried ice cream, and, for the life of me, I can't imagine how this concoction is even possible!

fried ice cream is ice cream rolled in corn flakes and quickly deep fried so just the corn flakes get toasty. i have never tried it at home. somehow i have visions of melted ice cream causing oil boilovers and mess. i will just leave it to the professionals.
